I understand that it is not spontaneous when it is positive and only can be spontaneous in backward direction but please explain further in more detail why

When we have delta G a positive value. The reaction is more favoured towards backward than forward. We will have reatcion in both directions but backward reaction occurs more than forward. Based on delta G magnitude we can predict how much products is formed . We have relation delta G = - RT ln Keq
Thus if delta G is positive Keq is < 1. This indicates reaction happens in both directions but equilibrium is more towards backward direction.
