please an explanation for this, how would 25.88g (WT GRAD) and a volume of 9.51ml give you a WT total of 35.25 g.

An explanation will help.

Answer #1

Low Density is the reason behind this.

Weight is 25.88 gm. After addition of volume of 9.51 mL, the total is 35.25 g

To do this we will susbtract grams units = 35.25 g,- 25.88 g=9.37 gm ---that you have added

It says per calculation that we have added 9.37 gm -- but in terms of volume it is 9.51 mL

This is due to low density of liquid,

Density = mass/volume

Density = 9.37 gm/9.51 mL =0.985 g/mL

The density is less than 1 that means you are gettig more volume but less weight

How would I seperate benzophenone from benzoic acid in a under-grad lab? For the lab practical experiment, you will be given a 1.00-g sample of benzophenone contaminated with benzoic acid. Your task is to write your own protocol and complete as much of it as possible, with the objective being to obtain a pure sample of benzophenone in the highest percent recovery. Techniques to consider include the following:  Recrystallization  Extraction  Column chromatography  TLC/mp/bp  Distillation ...
