If you have an aqueous solution that is 25.9 % Na3PO4 by mass, what is the molality of Na3PO4 in the solution?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

25.9% Na3PO4 by mass means 25.9g of Na3Po4 present in 100g of solution

mass of solute(Na3PO4) = 25.9g

mass of solution                  = 100g

mass of solvent   = mass of solution - mass of solute

                             = 100-25.9    = 74.1g

gram molar mass of Na3PO4 = 163.94g/mole

molality      = mass of solute *1000/gram molar mass of solute * mass of solvent in g

                    = 25.9*1000/163.94*74.1   = 2.132 m

molality of Na3PO4 = 2.132m >>>>answer

When an aqueous solution of CaCl2 is mixed with an aqueous solution of Na3PO4, a chemical reaction occurs resulting in the formation of Ca3(PO4)2 and NaCl. This is shown by the chemical equation: 3CaCl2 (aq) + 2Na3PO4 (aq) → Ca3(PO4)2 (s) + 6NaCl (aq) a. Describe a method for separating Ca3(PO4)2 from the product mixture. b. Once the Ca3(PO4)2 has been removed, the NaCl can be recovered. Describe a method for recovering the NaCl from the aqueous solution.
