Samarium chloride(III) has a molecular mass of 256.76 g/mol.

Mole percentage is number of moles of component per 100 moles of the solution. It is the mole fraction of the component multiplied by 100.

then   because  

where is the mole fraction of SmCl3

= na/ (na+ nb) and   =  nb/ (na+ nb)

From the above equations we infer that the ratio of na:nb is 0.1: 0.9 or 1 : 9.

0.1 moles of SmCl3 has a molecular mass of 0.1*  256.76 = 25.6 grams
