rank acids and bases from stringest to weakest and explain why?
1.acid
NH4Cl, HCl,HNO3,HC2H3O2, Al(NO3)3, H3PO4, Na2H2PO4
2. bases
Na2HPO4,NaOH, NaHCO3, NH3, Na3PO4
1)
acids : strongest to weakest.
HCl > HNO3 > H3PO4 > NH4Cl > Al(NO3)3 > Na2H2PO4.
1) here HCl and HNO3 are strong acids. becuse these gives more H+ ions when dissolve in water . H3PO4 is weak acid . it does not dissociate completely when dissolve in water.
2) NH4Cl and Al(NO3)3 are salt of stong acid and weak bases. so these are acidic .
3) Na2H2PO4. is basic . so this is less acidic
2)
bases :
NaOH > NH3 > Na3PO4 > Na2HPO4 > NaHCO3
NaOH is strong base and NH3 is weak base.
in Na2HPO4 NaHCO3, Na3PO4 , more Na ions compound is more basic.
