if the melting point of your product is below 232-235 what will be the possible reasons?
Melting point of this Diels Alder product can be used to
indicate purity. Usually this range should
be 237 - 239 oC, pure products will have narrow
temperature range which should not exceed
1oC. Also very pure products have sharp melting points
(no temperature range but just a certain
value). However if the melting point of your product is below
232-235 oC then that indicates
that the product is not pure ( range is wide) and has some
unreacted reactants or impurities in it.
