Boiling point:

Take a glasss tube fitted with therometer. Fill the tube with the compound under examination and start heating the tube gradually. Carefully observe the reading of thermometer. The reading of the thermometer increases with time. at boiling point the liquid starts boiling and reading of thermometer become constant. Note down the point that will be the boiling point of that liquid.

Melting point:

Take small amount of the compound in a glass capillary tube and put it into a tube containing silicone oil in such a way that the part of capillary having compound is dipped inside the silicon oil. Heat the silicon oil gragually. Note down the point at which the compound melts that will be the melting point of your compound.
