Will the diffusion in metals and ceramics be generally slower than in polymers?
Diffusion in metals and ceramics is generally slower then that of polymers because the mobality in case of polymer is very high as compair to metals that's why polymers diffuse faster. (As we know the in polymerization process there are generally three steps inithiation, propagation and termination. In termination process fee redicals attack again and again and form a big pollymer and it is very difficult to stop polymrization where as metal form bond by shareing of electrons). Polymers are generally present in liquid state (force of attraction is not so strong). Where as metals and ceramics are generally present in solid form (there is strong force of attraction between metal-metal bond). We know diffusion in case of liquid is more then in case or solids.
That's why we can say that diffusion in polymers are more then that of metals and ceramics.
