ethyl alcohol has a specific gravity of 0.79.what is the volume in quarts of 1.75kg of alcohol

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Specific gravity substance = density of the substance / density of water

WE know that, density of water = 1.0 g/mL

So, density of substance = specific gravity of the substance

Hence, density of ethyl alcohol = 0.79 g/mL

Mass of ethyl alcohol = 1.75 kg = 1750 g

=> density = mass / volume

=> volume = mass/ density

=> volume = 1750 g / 0.79 g/mL

=> volume = 2215.2 mL

Since, 1 mL = 0.001057 quarts

=> volume of ethyl alcohol = 2215.2 x 0.001057 qt = 2.34 qt <<<<<--------(ANSWER)
