when to use q=mcat or when I should use dimensional analysis when solving heat curve problems with multiple steps.
The formula Q = m x C x dT
Q is heat absorbed or released in process where there is heating or cooling which causes temperature change in material
C is specific heat of material
dT = change in temperature of material during the process
Thus when we have heating or cooling of material whose temperature is changing we use above formula to calculate heat absorbed or heat released when temperature change occured.
Example : we can calculate heat absorbed by 100g of water at 25C to increase its temperature to 95 C
( Note when phase change occurs i.e solid to liquid etc the temperature is constant during that process and we dont use this formula)
