White and Black materials
Explain why they look white or black color to our eyes by predicting absorption spectrums of each color.

Answer #1

The white light is made up of variety of different wavelengths that correspond to different colours such as violet , indigo , blue , green , yellow , orange and red. When this light is incident on any object, some of the frequencies get absorbed and the others are reflected back. The colour which is reflected back , is perceived by our eyes as the colour of the object.

So if the object appears black , this means all of the light is absorbed by it and none is reflected. And when the object appeats white , it means all the light is reflected back and nothing is absorbed.

task Black body color and scarlet eyes are determined by two-genes recessive alleles, which are located on different auto-atoms in Drosophila melanogaster. A F1 she crossed from an intersection between the two pervasive tribes, "black body color" and "scarlet eyes", to an F1 male from a cross between the pervasive strains of "black body color" and "black body color with the scarlet-colored eyes". What phenotypes can you expect from the offspring of this crossing and what are the expected phenotype...

Most black bears (Ursus americanus) are black or brown in color. However, occasional white bears of this species appear in some populations along the coast of British Columbia. Kermit Ritland and his colleagues determined that white coat color in these bears results from a recessive mutation (G) caused by a single nucleotide replacement in which guanine substitutes for adenine at the melanocortin-1 receptor locus (mcr1). The wild-type allele at this locus (A) encodes black or brown color. Ritland and his...

Black coat color of guinea pigs is a dominant trait, and white is the alternative recessive trait. If a pure black guinea pig is crossed to a white one what will be the phenotype and genotype of F1 offspring? If two F1 animals are mated what proportion of the F2 guinea pigs would be expected to be black?

Suppose you have a group of beetles. You find that a white eye color in one of the beetles is due to a point mutation. Refer to B and b (where B is the allele associated with the dominant phenotype, and b is the allele associated with the recessive phenotype) in order to answer the following questions: 1) The cross of a pure breeding male with white eyes with a pure breeding female with normal eyes leads to all offspring...

A tiger color variant with a white coat and black stripes occurs due to an autosomoal recessive mutation in a transport protein. Homozygous dominant individuals (genotype DD) have wild-type orange coloration. Heterozygotes (Dd) also have the wild-type coloration but are carriers for the white allele. Homozygous recessive individuals (dd) have the white phenotype A population of tigers has a recessive allele frequency of 0.2.
