Question

The pOH of an aqueous solution of 0.397 M hypochlorous acid is?

The pOH of an aqueous solution of 0.397 M hypochlorous acid is?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

hypochlorous acid = weak acid

pka of hypochlorous acid = 7.53

pH of weak acid = 1/2(pka-logC)

                          = 1/2(7.53-log0.397)

                         = 3.96

pOH = 14-pH

        = 14-3.96

        = 10.04
