Name the major regulatory point of glycolysis and explain how the enzyme is regulated?
The most important step in glycolysis is the Phosphofructokinase. Phosphofructokinae is regulated by the energy of the cell, that is the fraction of adenosine nucleotides of the cell that contain high energy bonds.AMP activates the reaction thus , when energy is required , glycolysis is activated.
when there is plenty of enrgy the reaction will slowdown.
phosphofructokinase is also activated by fructose-2-6-biophosphate. phosphofructokinase II is regulated by harmone action.
