Biomaterials are made up of cells, each of which are about a few microns. So while studying the properties of the cells, it is better to go with the micro scale, i.e. cellular level. Studying the properties of singular cells will allow us to define the properties of that biomaterial. Individual cells are given priority when we use the micro scale. Their biochemistry or their physiological capacity like how much a cell is making of a particular enzyme can be determined effectively only on the same level as that of the cell. Hence, the micro scale is important when analyzing biomaterials.
