What are the different types of interactions that can be found in a protein? For each type, specify between which amino acids or where in the protein those interactions occur.
Hi,
In proteins the following major non covalent interactions are found.
1) Hydrogen bonds: these are the hydrogen bonds formed between the residues containing Oxygen, Nitrogen and Sulfur atoms as side chains or functional groups. Examples are Histidine, Serine, aspertate, glutamate, arginine, Lysine, aspargine, Cysteine etc,. thse hydrogen bonds can be found in between thse residues or with water molecules network or with amide backbone of protein.
2) hydrophobic bonds: these are the interaction are found in between the amino acid residues containing organic residues like Phenyl alanine, Proline,Luecine, Iso leuicine etc,.
