A balloon is filled to a volume of 1.50 L with 3.00 moles of gas at 25 °C. With pressure and temperature held constant, what will be the volume of the balloon if 0.30 moles of gas are added?
Avogadro's law states that "equal volumes of all gases, at the same temperature and pressure, have the same number of molecules." For a given mass of an ideal gas, the volume and amount (moles) of the gas are directly proportional if the temperature and pressure are constant.
therefore V1/n1=V2/n2
=> V2= V1n2/n1
we have
V1= 1.50 L
n2=0.30+3 mol= 3.30 mol
n1=3.00 mol.
=> V2= 1.50L×3.30/3.00
=> V2= 1.65 L
the volume of the balloon if 0.30 moles of gas are added= 1.65 L
Your one thumbs up will help me lot. Thanks!
