Find the pH of the following solutions.
A.) 0.10 M CH3NH2
B.) a mixture of 3.50 mmol of NH3 and 1.20 mmol of NH4Cl in 250 mL of H2O

Homework Answers

Answer #1

A. POH = 1/2PKb -logC

                = 1/2*3.38-log0.1

                 = 1.69 +1   = 2.69

B. POH   = pkb + log[NH4Cl]/[NH3]

             = 4.75 + log1.20/3.5

             = 4.75-0.4648 = 4.2852

   PH   = 14-POH

          = 14-4.2852   = 9.7148
