Units of measurement provide which of the following?

Select the correct answer below:

a standard comparison of measurements

a magnitude of the measurement

uncertainties of measurement

all of the above

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Units are used to describe the size of something. When a particular standard(unit) is fixed then it is possible to do comparisons between two or more quantities. So the basic purpose is a standard comparison of measurements.

Now the unit by itself doesnot tell about magnitude and uncertainty of something, the numbers written before the units like 500 and 0.1 in 500+/-0.1 Kg. If the unit is changed then this number also changes.

So the answer is a standard comparison of measurements.
