I am working on a Science Fair project on What the Chemical
reaction of Milk and Coca Cola will be when combined and I'm having
a hard time with the Hypothesis. Any suggestions or ideas would be
appreciated. I need help!
Coca Cola, like any other cola contains H3PO4 (Phosphoric acid), which will trigger coagulation of the milk proteins. Thus the milk solids will separate out from the water part (whey).
The above process will take some time at normal room temperature (say 4-6 hrs), but will be much faster when hot or boiling milk is used (NOT SURE THOUGH HOW SAFE IT WILL BE).
Another chemical reaction will take place, though very unlikely ti be vissible in all that fizz, is the precipitation of calcium of the milk as calcium phosphate.
Ca2+ + PO43- ------> Ca3(PO4)2
