Hi, so I did a isolation of caffeine in tea lab.

Purpose: The purpose of this lab was to isolate caffeine that is found in tea by using the technique of extracting, separating, and sublimation.

One of my lab questions is- What were the limitations to meting your purpose? How could those limitations be minimized? There are 2 big limitations.

Answer #1

Limitataions:

1) The mass of the tea leaves used contains stem and it varies for every sample. The presence of stem will greatly effect the amount of caffiene extracted.

2) The size of the tea leaves also vary from each sample, this effects the total surface area exposed. Large surface area will increase the rate of diffusion of caffiene

Improvements:

1) The tea leaves that will be used have to be sorted out to prevent the presence of unwanted stems.

2) Make sure the tea leaves are in the same size through out the sample. if the leaves are big, split it in to equal parts to maintain the uniformity.

So I did a experiment on extraction of caffeine. Here is the question, If your goal was to isolate as much caffeine from the aqueous layer as poassible, which of the two methods used in this lab would you use and why? We had 2 methods, first method was using 60 mL of CH2Cl2 to extract second method was using 20 mL of CH2Cl2 three times to extract (60 mL total). Now I know that the second method is better,...

Hi, I did a lab on ROTATIONAL KINEMATICS and I'm having a little trouble answering the questions at the end of the lab. For this lab, we used an object attach to a parallel shaft that spins. There was a hanging mass attached to the shaft that made the object spin. We then recorded the times for two different methods. These methods were PART A). Angular Position Versus Time, and PART B). Angular Velocity versus Time. Once done, we were...

So I did a titration lab where were reacted various amounts of Mg with 10mL of HCL and then neutralized the raction with NaOH. I have my table of values for Mass of Mg (g), Initial Volume NaOH (mL), Final Volume NaOH (mL), End Point Volume (mL), Limiting Reagent (Mg or HCL). There is a Titration table I need to fill in that asks for Moles of Mg (mol), Moles of NaOH (mol) and Moles of H+ reacting with Mg...

Hi I appreciate you taking my question. I Want you to explain how to do it. I have no data so please makeup data or variables and show work of how to get points and solving. Thank you! The data table doesn't have to be big since this will serve as a set of examples for me to use. For the titration of your isolated P8S1 material construct a table that includes the sample of mass titrated, volume and concentration...

So in lab last week, we did an experiment about pre and post-exercise measurements. One of those measurements was heart rate. We had to develop null hypothesis (done), and compute t-values (done as well). Our degree of freedom was 18 (19-1). I need help finding P-values in order to accept or reject the null hypothesis. What are the p-values for the following t-values? (all degree of freedoms are 18). It was a two tailed t-test. The t-values were: Heart rate:...

Hi! Below is the case study and I want to make sure I'm on the right track. I bolded the questions I'm interested in (1-5). Looking for people who are familiar with the DSM-5/abnormal psychology and able to answer all questions completely. Thank you! Questions: 1. Diagnosis; what is the evidence for it? 2. Treatment; typical treatment used for this diagnosis AND most effective treatment. IF the person is in treatment, what should we target first in terms of symptoms?...
