this reaction a precipitate will form. balanced reaction is

3K2CO3(aq) +2Fe(NO3)3(aq) ----> 6KNO3(aq) + Fe2(CO3)3(s)

Now if we break this all down into ions we get the "total ionic equation"

K(+) + CO3(2-) + Fe(3+) + NO3(-) ---> K(+) + NO3(-) + Fe2(CO3)3(s)

K(+) + NO3(-) and

2Fe(3+)(aq) + 3CO3(2-)(aq) ---> Fe2(CO3)3

If you make an equation with just the ions that change from Ion to solid, you get the "net ionic equation" and you can see the ions that react:
