contains yttrium(Y), barium(Ba) and copper(Cu). The three metals are present in 1:2:3 mole ratio. Thus, for making , three chemical compounds containing yttrium, barium and copper are mixed in the proportions such that these metals are in the ratio of 1:2:3. The mixture is heated in the presence of oxygen. The resulting metal oxide is black and is a superconductor. If the metal oxide is short on oxygen, it will be green and will not be a superconductor.
