What mass of calcium chloride is needed to make 100.00mL of a 0.125 M solution?

In order to obtain 100.00mL of solution that has a concentration of 0.250 M chloride ion, sodium chloride could be used instead. Will the mass of sodium chloride be greater than or less than the mass of calcium chloride?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

no of moles of CaCl2 = molarity * volume in L

                                   = 0.125*0.1 = 0.0125moles

mass of CaCl2      = no of moles * gram molar mass

                                = 0.0125*111 =1.3875g
