What is the molarity of sodium vanadate (Na3VO4) solutions if 34.6 ml of the solution are needed to titrate a .514g sample of pure potassium sulfite? VO4^-3 + SO3^-2 + 4H^+ = VO^+ +SO4^-2 + 2H2O

Homework Answers

Answer #1

VO4^-3 + SO3^-2 + 4H^+---------->VO^+ +SO4^-2 + 2H2O

no of moles of K2So3 = W/G.M.Wt

                                    = 0.514/158 = 0.00325 moles

from balanced equation

1 moles of K2So3 react with 1 moles Na3Vo4

0.00325 moles of K2So3 react with 0.00325 moles Na3VO4

molarity Na3VO4 = no of moles/volume in L

                           = 0.00325/0.0346 = 0.094 M
