How do the properties of wet and dry nylon differ from each other?
Dry iron may absorb water to form wet iron. The process is reversible so wet iron can be dried to form dry iron.
Difference between wet and dry nylon are:-
A)water being polar form hydrogen bonding with amide and results in matrix swealing in wet iron. Water molecule take some space and displace nylon molecules thereby decreasing their secondary forces and increase in mobility of system.
B) wet iron is less resistant to applied stress. On heating to moulding temperature it under go hydrolytic degradation.
