A sample of propane C3H8 contains 11.9 moles of carbon atoms. How many total moles of atoms does the sample contain

Homework Answers

Answer #1

1mole of C3H8 contains 3 moles of carbon atoms

3 moles of carbon atoms present in 1 mole of C3H8

11.9 moles of carbon present in = 1*11.9/3   = 3.97 moles of C3H8

The ration of carbon and hydrogen = 3:8

no of mols of hydrogen    = 11.9*8/3 = 31.74moles of hydrogen

The total no of moles    = 11.9+ 31.74           = 43.64moles >>>>answer
