a sample of an ideal gas has a volume of 3.60 L at 13.40c and 1.30 atm what is the volume of the gas at 20.20 c and 0.993 atm

Homework Answers

Answer #1

We know that PV = nRT

Where P-pressure , V-volume , n - number of moles , R - gas constant , T - temperature

As the gas remains the same & R also constant so PV / T = constant

So PV / T = P'V'/T'

Where

P = initial pressure = 1.30 atm

V = initial volume = 3.60 L

T= initial temperature = 13.4 oC = 13.4+273 = 286.4 K

P' = final pressure = 0.993 atm

V' = final volume = ?

T' = final temperature = 20.20 oC = 20.20+273 = 293.2 K

Plug the values we get

V' = (PVT') / (TP')

    = 4.82 L

Therefore the required volume is 4.82 L
