Answer #1

How many moles of carbon atoms are there in 4 mol of each of the following compounds?

Calcium carbonate, CaCO3. Express your answer numerically in moles.

Urea, CO(NH2)2. Express your answer numerically in moles.

Ethylene glycol, C2H6O2. Express your answer numerically in moles.

Sol :-

(a). CaCO3 :-

1 mole of CaCO3 contains = 1 mole of C atom

So,

4 mole of CaCO3 contains = 1 x 4 mole of C atom

= 4 moles of Carbon atom.

---------------------

(b). CO(NH3)2 :-

1 mole of CO(NH3)2 contains = 1 mole of C atom

So,

4 mole of CO(NH3)2 contains = 1 x 4 mole of C atom

= 4 moles of Carbon atom.

---------------------

(c). C2H6O2 :-

1 mole of C2H6O2 contains = 2 mole of C atom

So,

4 mole of C2H6O2 contains = 2 x 4 mole of C atom

= 8 moles of Carbon atom.
