Answer #1

DIgestion of Precipitate is also known as Ageing Precipitate.

i) Digestion of Precipitate is the phenomenon wherein a freshly prepared precipitate is left at higher temperature from which it precipitate out which gradually results into the purere, cleaner precipitate of bigger particle size.

It is well known as Ostwald's ripening of precipitate.

ii) Physico Chemical Principle underlyning this phenomenon i,: Precipitate digestion is a thermodynamically-driven spontaneous process occurs because larger particles are more energetically favored than smaller particles at higher temperature.

iii) It is a simple process of getting better solid crystals for X-Ray Diffraction studies of crystals but limited to only some solids which fits into the above underlyning physico chemical principle.
