You are in a somewhat rarely explored area, as far as I am concerned.  That is, I have not fully investigated and digested the ramifications of the "market value" field and what performance figures it impacts.  My current policy is to leave that field blank for Remove shares transactions.  As you observe, there is no comparable field for the Add shares transactions and I cannot at this time experiment with your procedures to see what is going on.  

With my choice of no data, I tend look for performance on a security basis such that the Remove and Add balance each other and have no net effect on Average Annual Return (my preferred measure).
