Homework Answers

Answer #1

You have an order to administer 1L of 5% Dextrose with 40 meq of potassium over 16 hours.
Therefore, 1000 mL ------in 16 hr
We have to find per 1 hr -----how many mL of IV required.

The volume we have to set = (1000 mL/16 hr)
                          = 62.5 mL/hr
                          = 63 mL/hr (rounding)
Hence, we have to set IV pump to 63 mL/hr.
