Although calcium hydroxidelis
considered al strong bases
electrical conductivity is weak
what is the reason?
Calcium hydroxide is a strong base due to the presence of OH ions. However the thermal conductivity of calcium hydroxide depends more on the structure of calcium hydroxide in which the conductivity is seen. The solubility of calcium hydroxide depends on the structure and thus due to low solubility we get low thermal conductivity. If a single continuous crystal of calcium hydroxide is used then the conductivity will be low. But if amorphous form is used the conductivity may increase as the amorphous form is more soluble in water than the crystalline form.
