The anesthetic consists of a mixture of cyclopropane gas, C3H6, and oxygen gas , O2. If the mixture has a total pressure of 825 torr, and the partial pressure of the cyclopropane is 73 torr, what is the partial pressure of the oxygen in the anesthetic.

Homework Answers

Answer #2

total pressure of the gas mixture = Partial pressure of O2 + Partial pressure of C3H6

now

Partial pressure of O2 = total pressure - partial pressure of C3H6

                               = 825- 73 torr

                                = 752 torr

so partial pressure of O2 = 752 torr
