Answer #1

Sphingomyelin (or SPH) is a type of sphingo -phospholipid that exist in   animal cell membranes.

Sphingomyelins contain phosphoethanolamine as their polar head group.A typical arrangement of (sphingosine, and a fatty acid ) , collectively called ceramide provides it the property of signaling pathways. It has no net charge in their head group like glycerophosphocholine .It is classified as phospholipid with glycerophospholipids. It is not synthesized from glycerol.

Glycerophosphocholine has phosphocholine polar head groups. No phosphoethanolamine or ceramide present.
