Given that the density of an unpeeled orange is 0.84 g/mL, and that of a peeled orange is 1.16 g/mL. This is surprisingly unexpected. As an orange without peel should be lighter and hence should have a lower density. Explain this case and predict which orange will float and which one will sink in the water.
In this case it is given that density of unpeeled orange is less that the peeled orange. It means we can think it as that the density of its peel is very less as compare to the inner part. That's overall density is less than the unpeeled orange density.
Now for floating condition, substance should has lesser density than water we know the density of water is 1 g/ml and unpeeled orange density is less than water whereas peeled orange has higher density.
So unpeeled orange wii float in water and peeled orange will sink into the water.
