An open vessel contains 10,000 kg of CaCO3. calculate the amount of heat required to raise the temperature of CaCO3 from 50°C to 880°C. The polynomial parameters for CaCO3 are: A = 12.57, B = 2.64×10^3, C = 0, D = -3.12×10^-5.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The amount of heat required , q = mcdt

Where

m = mass of CaCO3 = 10000 kg = 10000x103 g

c = specific heat capacity of CaCO3 = 0.81994 joules/gram/celsius

dt = change in temperature = final - initial

         = 880 - 50 = 830 oC

Plug the values we get Q = 6.80x109 J

                                      = 6.80x106 kJ
