Topicity is the relation between two atoms or groups within a molecule. If atoms or groups are equivalent, the molecule or bonds of a molecule can be rotated so that they are indistinguishable. If they are enantiotopic they are mirror images of each other but not equivalent. If they are diastereotopic they are connected in the same fashion but not equivalent or enantiotopic. If they are constitutional heterotopic, they are connected differently in a molecule.
