Rank alpha particles, beta particles, positrons, and gamma rays in terms of increasing penetrating power. Rank from lowest to highest penetrating power. To rank items as equivalent, overlap them.

alpha particles, beta particles, gamma rays, positrons

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Sol :- More the mass of the particle lower will be the frequency of the electromagnetic radiation and therefore lower will be the penetrating power. Because, alpha particle is bigger in size so it has lowest penetrating power. Also, gamma particle has almost zero mass and therefore have lowest penetrating power.

Hence, correct arrangement from lowest to highest penetrating power is :

alpha-particles (Lowest) < beta-particles positron < gamma-particles (Highest)
