What is the volume (in L) of 28.8 g of carbon dioxide at 348 K and 687 torr?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

molar mass of CO2 = 44.01gm/mol that mean 1 mole of CO2 = 44.01gm

then 28.8 gm CO2 = 28.81/44.01 = 0.65439 mole

687 torr = 0.903947 atm

we know that PV = nRT

V = nRT/P

n = 0.65439 mole, T = 348K, P= 0.903947 atm, R = 0.08205 L aatm mol-1 K-1 ( R = gas constant)

substitute these value in above equation.

V = 0.654390.08205348/0.903947 = 20.67 L

volume of carbon dioxide = 20.67 L
