Radioactive Absorption question
Radioactive materials used to be used in household goods, such as uranium coated Fiestaware in the 1930's. While eating off a Fiestaware plate could be deadly over a long period of time, keeping one plate with the other plates would not cause you significant harm (KEEPING THE PLATES AWAY FROM YOU AND NOT USING THEM). Why?
In case of use of Fiestaware plates for food serving, there is possibility of absorption of the the harmful chemicals from it as it contain uranium
Uranium containing Fiestaware may undergo some crack, which cause direct exposure of lead into the food. The lead may leach into the food (absorbed into the food) and enter our body which can be dangerous.
However if we keep them away from us they will radiate radons (The gas, radon-222, is produced by the gradual decay of uranium-238.) the rate of formation of radon is very slow and falls under permissible limit for human body and is not dangerous to us.
