In a qualitative analysis, how does heating a solution containing (Cu2+ , Co2+ , or Ni2+ ) ion to dryness remove the NH4+ ion? Explain

To answer this question 1st we need to understand how NH4+ came into the solution. Generally this is the equilibrium reaction that leads to the present of NH4+ in solution.

NH3 + H2O <---> NH4+ + OH-

NH3 reacts with water alraedy present in solution to form NH4+ ion.

On heating:

Ammonia gas iremoved, that pushes the reaction in backward direction according to LeChatellier's principle. Thus NH4+ gets converted to NH3 which are removed further on heating. Thus if we keep complete heat till dryness, NH4+ has been converted to NH3 and NH3 has dissapear. This is how NH4+ is removed by heating till dryness
