In salicylic acid and in benzoylamino , acid (sulfuric or hydrochloric) is added near the end of the procedure. Write a general reaction for what is accomplished with the acid (H+), and a short explanation of why acid was added.

Answer #1

Answer – When salicylic acid and benzoylamino reacts there is need to added firsto the compound in NaOH, so there is formed sodium salt of acid and the base is abstract the acidic proton and reaction forwards. So after complete reaction we need acid added near the end of the procedure, due to the neutralization of OH- in solution and organic reaction as carried out the in acidic medium at the end of the reaction.

If we not use acid at the near the end of the procedure then OH-, heat decarboxylate salicylic acid and there is not formed product, so for that purpose we need to added acid for neutralization of OH- in solution. The general reaction is as follow –

H+ +OH- ----> H2O

In the nitration of bromobenzene, a mixture of nitric acid and sulfuric acid are added to the bromobenzene and stirred at room temperature. Why is it important to keep the reaction mixture at room temperature rather than heating it? -To prevent bromobenzene from evaporating out of solution. -To prevent bromobenzene from precipitating out of solution. -To prevent di-substituted products from forming. -To prevent meta-substituted products from forming. -To prevent meta-substituted and di-substituted products from forming.
