The novel organic-inorganic hybrids are used in therapeutic and diagnotstic imaging as they have high agent loading capacity

(i) the oxide of Gadolinium (Gadolinium oxide, Gd ₂O ₃ ) is encapsulated with a polysiloxane shell, which carries organic fluorophore (Cy 5) and is derivatized by a hydrophilic carboxylic layer.
