It is gram - ve, cocco. bacillus bacterium.

The most common vectors for this bacteria are ticks. Ticks are vectors, reservor, amplifier of this disease.

There are commonly 3 tick vectors:-

(i) American dog tick :- Dermacentor variabilis

(ii) Rocky mountain wood tick :-

Dermacentor andersoni

(iii) Brown dog tick :- Rhipicephalus sanguine

Symptoms :- mostly they cause fever, chills, headache,

Nausea, vomiting, anoxia and sometimes rashes on arms and legs appear during early symptoms.
