The SA/V is important for the transport of the material and its diffusion capacity and equally important to make equilibrium in all the organisms (from bacteria to human).
Surface Area (SA)/Volume (V)
It is very important for the, if a cell size is large in a cell then this ratio would be low as compared to tiny cells (like RBCs) and this behavior. It is just like that smaller cube will have larger ratio as compared to the large cuboidal cell. Therefore, tiny RBCs are most efficient to transport oxygen and other nutrient inside the body and they are most efficient and favorable cells. So, smaller cells would be most favorable as compared to the larger cells as they may diffuse material (O2 or nutrient etc) quicker than the larger one.
