Answer #1

In long term impact of increasing genetic variation between population , rapid selection of genotypes may take place and the phenotypic plasticity is possible. It will help in introduction of new species and better selection of better traits among the individuals of population which provide them better adaptation potential. The population may gain the ability to evolve at faster rate in response to competetion ,changing climate . The population leave an increasing impact on their native communities and ecosystem in future. More genetic novelities are produces with a little or no chances of genetic bottleneck . The population spread in different geographical locations . And in this survival of the fitest takes place . The recobination in genes and natural selection takes place at high rate.

Natural selection tends to reduce genetic variation within a population by disfavouring particular alleles. However, in some situations selection can help maintain genetic variation rather than erode it. Explain how this can happen using an example.
