A transcript contains the leader sequence and a polyA tail. Based on what you have learned, why do these transcripts need to have these two elements?
mRNA transcript consists of 5' cap or leader sequence and 3' end Poly A tail. These two structures are present in mRNA for different purposes. When pre mRNA is being synthesized a 7 methylguanosine cap is added to the 5' end of the RNA sequence. This cap protects the RNA from degradation. 5' cap has function in translation too, in Translation when mRNA goes to ribosome for initiation, ribosomes recognize this cap region to start translation. 3' Poly A tail is synthesized after mRNA elongation. The main function of poly A tail is in the transportation of mRNA from the nucleus to the cytosol. Also it has function in protection of mRNA from degradation.
