Explain how leaving burlap on a balled and burlapped tree can cause a problem.
Balled-and-burlapped trees are transplants which are sold to the customers looking to plant a tree and after having been planted, dug up, and wrapped. Balled refers to the root ball i.e, soil and roots, which has been dug up.
Burlapped refers to the wrapping material used for transporting tree and plant deliveries.
The problems that can be faced while planting them are :
a) whether the burlap has been treated to be rot-resistant , so that the growth of the plant is not hampered.
b)If the burlap is not biodegradable for example, wire and rot-resistant burlap, then it must be removed when planting. Otherwise, it will impede plant growth in the future.
