Sea lions have external ear flap while seals do not have external ears and has an ear hole.

Sea lions have long flippers and with the black flippers can be rotated under their body which enable them to walk on shore. Seals have small flippers and cannot rotate their back flippers under their body.

Seals use the tail or back for propulsion while the sea lion lion uses the front flippers for propulsion.
