Pathologies that arise from x-linked recessive patterns of inheritance will only manifest in male descendants of a family tree. True or False?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

False

Pathologies that arise from x-linked recessive patterns of inheritance will most frequently manifest in male descendants of a family tree.

X linked recessive disorders are apparent most often in males since males have only one X chromosome and half of all male descendants of carrier females will inherit the disorder. However, female descendants in the family tree may also have the disorder if their mother is a carrier of the disorder and their father is affected by the disorder.
